Hot muppets are the new left shark. Song of Summer contender Demi Lovato took over Miley Cyrus’ stage Sunday night for a blazing performance of “Cool For The Summer” that included a candy-coated entourage and a surprise visit from Iggy Azalea visit.

Lovato made good on all her red carpet promises (a remix and a surprise guest), and ended her performance crowd surfing in a kiddie pool through a tornado of confetti.

“Cool For The Summer” is off Lovato’s upcoming fifth full-length album, the follow-up to 2013’s Demi. The singer kicked off the countdown to release in a big way last week, when she enlisted the social media accounts of a few famous friends — yes, boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama included — to reveal her anticipated track list. She started things off by tweeting “1. Confident” before other titles like “Cool For The Summer” (but you knew about that one, right?), “Mr. Hughes”, “Wildire”, and “Yes.”

When speaking to EW about the new album, Lovato said, “But I think the songs that ended up making the album, all of them are very soulful. The song, ‘Confident,’ it’s really the best way to represent me today. I feel very secure in who I am as an artist and a person. That’s what I’m trying to portray.”
