Before Avengers: Age of Ultron hits DVD and Blu-ray on Oct. 2, a new behind-the-scenes featurette from the home release has hit the Web. Previous looks focused on Paul Bettany’s The Vision, but this time around “The Twins” are front and center.

Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson portrayed Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the Marvel movie. As their abilities are unlike Earth’s Mightiest Heroes had ever faced, director Joss Whedon and his team of VFX experts were forced to explore new frontiers.

“We didn’t want it to be about the effects, per se,” said visual effects supervisor Christopher Townsend on Quicksilver’s speedster movements. “So we looked at various blurs and trails. We ended up with something rich. I think it’s pretty simple, but also pretty sophisticated and, sort of, elegant as a solution for Pietro as this blue-streak trail.”

On the other hand, Scarlet Witch’s telekinetic and mind-manipulating abilities were more of a dance. “Joss really wanted me to work with a dancer,” Olsen said in the video. “It changed a lot, the conversation about how Scarlet Witch would move, kind of creating a vocabulary.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will first be available through 3D Digital and Digital HD on Sept. 8, and 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital SD, and VOD on Oct. 2. Watch the latest featurette above.
