Taylor Swift brought her 1989 tour to Los Angeles on Friday for the first of a five-night stop at the Staples Center, and this time one of her now-standard special guests had a big surprise for her.
Kobe Bryant joined the singer on stage during the show, where the Los Angeles Lakers star presented her with a banner marking her record-setting 16 sold-out show at the arena.
“The screams you hear from an LA crowd when Kobe walks out onstage are so deafening you think you may have permanent hearing loss. But it was SO WORTH IT,” Swift wrote on Instagram.
She also shared a photo of the banner, writing, “The banners up at Staples Center right now because WHAT IS LIFE EVEN.”
Bryant wasn’t Swift’s only special guest at Friday’s show. She also brought out OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder — who worked with Swift on her 1989 tracks “Welcome to New York” and “I Know Places” — to sing his hit “Counting Stars.”
And, since the show was in Hollywood, the audience was packed with plenty of stars. See some of their tweets below:
Swift’s shows at the Staples Center will continue Saturday night, then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
