On Tuesday’s episode of Late Night, actor Zac Efron discussed the recent announcement that he will costar in the film reboot of the ’90s hit show Baywatch opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Not that he remembers the original series all that much.

“I have vague memories of it being on TV,” he said to host Seth Meyers. “I remember Pamela Anderson. I could sort of see David Hasselhoff.”

But as Meyers told Efron, who can next be seen in We Are Your Friends, adherence to what came before in the Baywatch canon is not all that necessary. “It’s not going to be like a Game Of Thrones situation where if you guys go too far away from Baywatch fans will be like ‘that didn’t happen in the show,'” Meyers told Efron.
