The next time Nick Offerman graces the small screen, prepare yourselves for a mustache-less sight. For his role in season 2 of Fargo, Offerman will be without the iconic Ron Swanson mustache that he sported for seven seasons on Parks and Recreation.

Offerman spoke to EW about the change on the red carpet of the FYC panel for Childrens Hospital, which stars Offerman’s wife, Megan Mullally. After shaving the mustache following the series finale of Parks and Rec, Offerman received his fair share of jokes from fans.

“I’ve had to learn to take it as a compliment when people say ‘I saw Nick Offerman without his mustache, and I vomited because it was so horrible,’” he says. “That means Parks and Rec was so effective that people can’t imagine me without my mustache.”

In Fargo, Offerman will be playing Karl Weathers, a town lawyer described as a “flowery drunk” and “true con artist.” He says that as a character actor, he’s found the entire experience “thrilling” and loves being unrecognizable.

Offerman has previously gone whisker-free in a memorable scene from an episode of Parks and Rec, which featured Mullally as Ron’s ex-wife. In real life, the couple have been married for almost 12 years.

“We’re lucky that we found the right person. Like with many showbiz couples, if I were as good-looking as Megan, we’d be in trouble,” Offerman says. “But when you have a donkey and a fairy bunny rabbit, the rabbit jumps on the donkey’s back and they go for a walk.”

Season 2 of Fargo premieres Monday, October 12 at 10 p.m. on FX.
