Stephanie Sigman, star of the Mexican narco-drama Miss Bala and a soon-to-be Bond girl in Spectre, has joined ABC’s anthology series American Crime as a new recurring character.

Sigman will portray Monica Ava, an administrator at an Indianapolis public school whose loyalties and values are tested when she runs up against systemic bias.

Showrunner John Ridley said of Sigman in a statement, “One can’t watch Miss Bala without coming away with a total appreciation of Stephanie’s ability to literally hold the frame.” He added, “We’re amazingly fortunate that she’s decided to come directly from a project as substantial as the new Bond film to work with us on something as observant as American Crime.”

Sigman, a former fashion model, also claims credits in the Norwegian film Pioneer, the FX series The Bridge and the upcoming Netflix series Narcos.
