Comic artist Ian McGinty (Adventure Time, Steven Universe) hit his stride with the popular BOOM! Studios book Bravest Warriors, working alongside the creative team of Kate Leth and Lisa Moore…and now he’s bringing his A-game to another original series. This fall, McGinty will publish Welcome to Sideshow, which marks his creator-owned debut as a writer and artist for Z2 Comics.

McGinty’s book features a young, adventurous kid named Kit, who has a huge secret: his dad isn’t just any dad. He’s the Great Shadow King, and he wants Kit to follow in the footsteps of his family in destroying the world. That means instead of being a normal boy who hangs out with his friends and skateboards around his hometown of Showside, Kit sometimes has to defend the town from demons and monsters — a tall oder, indeed.

Welcome to Showside contains three things I know to be true,” McGinty tells EW. “One, the super fun combination of a monster kid, Kit, his magical best buds, Moon and Belle, and his demonic father, the Great Shadow King who’s looking to crush the entire universe is extremely freakin’ rad. Two, the art contributions of Grumpy Cat expert and meme culture aficionado, Erin Hunting, are always awesome and three, Henry Rollins knows how to crank up a kids’ show to the point that the knob snaps off and ricochets off a wall and knocks out the Morning DJ.”
