Neil Patrick Harris is looking to have “someone political” on his upcoming NBC variety show, but he’s not interested in having presidential candidate and part-time headline generator Donald Trump drop by — he’d rather have the president himself.

“President Obama would be so fun,” he told EW at the NBCUniversal TCA party in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. “Because every time he’s on a talk show, he always seems willing and game to play along.”

The variety show, titled Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, will include sketches, musical performances, games, and celebrity guests. “In our world of Best Time Ever, we’re always asking people that are coming in to play to really ‘play,’ in quotation marks,” Harris said. “So that would be fun.”

Hear that, Obama?

Best Time Ever premieres on NBC Sept. 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
