This article contains spoilers about Tuesday’s midseason finale of Pretty Little Liars. Do not read any further unless you want to know who “A” is, and other long-held show secrets.

After five long years of fake-outs, countless deaths and more creepy dolls than we’d like to dwell on for any significant amount of time, Tuesday’s midseason finale of Pretty Little Liars finally revealed the identity of “A”.

Given the amount of build-up surrounding such a crucial question and the amount of carefully constructed theories now dashed to the wind, it’s no surprise that PLL fans have gotten a little heated on social media. From helpless confusion to near-blackout rage, see below for a pretty fair representation of the reaction to the latest bomb Marlene King dropped on the fandom — as well as several more questions answered neither by the finale nor even EW’s postmortem chat with the showrunner herself.

(Some NSFW language abounds — after all, who can possibly keep the cursing at bay knowing that “A” is CeCe Drake, a.k.a. Charlotte DiLaurentis, who transitioned into a woman after being assigned at birth as a boy named Charles DiLaurentis? Wild.)

So, what did you think about the finale? Don’t forget to read our interview with King, where she reveals quite a few long-held secrets, and check out our recap to fill in any gaps in your memory caused by a Summer Roberts-esque rage blackout.
