Rumors of a Spice Girls reunion began spreading this week when Mel B. lobbied for a reunion on The Tonight Show, and hinted at the prospect in an interview with The Sun.

She then stopped by the Today show and said, “You know, when you say it’s our 20th anniversary coming up, it does make you think, ‘Oh, my Gosh! It really has been that long. Hopefully, you know, we’ll gather the troops around and we’ll get to do something to celebrate it next year.”

To fans, that clearly meant the Spice Girls would get back together to honor their first single “Wannabe,” which was released 20 years ago in 1996. But no plans for a reunion tour have been officially made or announced.

Now, Spice Girls Emma Bunton (Baby) and Mel C. (Sporty) have joked about getting ready for a reunion.

Bunton also commented on the rumors on her radio show on Heart FM and said, “If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know.” She insisted “nothing’s happening at the moment.”

The Spice Girls last reunited for a world tour in 2007. Watch Mel B.’s interview with Today.
