Alicia Keys returns with '28 Thousand Days'
Wearing jeans has rarely sounded so good. Alicia Keys released “28 Thousand Days,” a soulful, stomping single that’s for an upcoming Levi’s ad campaign, Friday. The performer has kept relatively quiet since her last album, 2012’s Girl on Fire, but on “28 Thousand Days”—which is just shy of 77 years—she’s in prime form. Keys wrote on Twitter that the cut “is just the beginning believe me!”
The track isn’t Keys’ first new music since Girl on Fire, though. She collaborated in 2014 with Kendrick Lamar, Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams for “It’s On Again,” the lead single from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. Keys also released “We Are Here” in September 2014, telling the AP at the time that her forthcoming sixth album was “actually pretty much done already” and featured “the best music I’ve ever done in my life yet.” Additional details about that project have yet to be announced—perhaps because she’s practicing her acting chops for her Empire guest spot and caring for her second child, who she and husband Swizz Beats welcomed last December.
