Filmmaking duo The Vicious Brothers — a.k.a. Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz — are set to direct a horror-thriller called Temple. The move is based on a script by Simon Barrett and will be shot in Japan later this year. The Vicious Brothers’ previous credits include the 2011 horror film Grave Encounters and last year’s Extraterrestrial. Barrett, meanwhile, wrote the 2011 home invasion horror-comedy You’re Next and 2014’s action-thriller The Guest, which starred Dan Stevens and It Follows actress Maika Monroe. Both You’re Next and The Guest were directed by Adam Wingard.

News of the deal seems to have come as something of a surprise to Barrett. “I’m getting congratulated on this Temple project, but I have nothing to do with that,” the writer tweeted yesterday. “I wrote it in collaboration with JT Petty back in 2011.” Petty is the director of the 2012 horror film Hellbenders.

The Guest, meanwhile, debuted July 25 on Netflix — a development Barrett noted in typically droll fashion by inviting his twitter followers to “watch the film Netflix users are raving about” alongside a review of the movie which describes it as “stupid & boring.”

You can see a trailer for The Guest below.
