Mindy Project: Sakina Jaffrey and Ajay Mehta join cast as Mindy's parents

When we last saw Mindy and Danny, he decided it was finally time to meet Mindy’s parents.
So, as The Mindy Project migrates to Hulu, Danny (Chris Messina) heads to India to meet Mr. and Mrs. Lahiri, who will be played by Ajay Mehta (Royal Pains) and Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards), EW has confirmed. E! News was the first to report the casting.
Mehta has appeared on New Girl, Modern Family and 24, while Jaffrey’s TV credits include roles on Sleepy Hallow, Madame Secretary and Girls. In last week’s Spoiler Room, we revealed that Mindy’s (Mindy Kaling) dad won’t be too fond of the man who got his daughter pregnant before they married. As for Mrs. Lahiri, word has it she’s an aspiring Bollywood actress.
The Mindy Project began production on season 4 earlier this month, and has announced that Freida Pinto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will join as guest stars. E! News reports Brooke Burke and Mark and Jay Duplass will also appear in the upcoming season, due out later this year on Hulu.
