Here’s an exciting possible pairing: Richard Linklater is reportedly Sony Pictures’ current frontrunner to direct Jennifer Lawrence starrer The Rosie Project, EW has confirmed. Deadline reported the news first.

The Lego Movie helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently exited the project to direct the Star Wars spinoff about a young Han Solo. Paper Towns and (500) Days of Summer screenwriters Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter have adapted Australian writer Graeme Simsion’s popular novel for the screen.

The story is about a socially awkward genetics professor who develops an elaborate questionnaire by which to determine his ideal mate. Naturally, he falls in love with Rosie (Lawrence), who is the opposite of every item on his checklist.

Linklater’s next post-Boyhood project is a baseball comedy that is scheduled to hit theaters in April of 2016. Maybe Rosie will mark the Before trilogy filmmaker’s return to romance.
