Ingrid Nilsen talks at VidCon, calls response to coming out video 'overwhelming'
YouTube star Ingrid Nilsen says the reaction to the emotional coming out video she shared last month had her in tears.
The beauty vlogger, who has more than 3 million YouTube subscribers and 860,000 Twitter followers, said she was moved by strangers’ comments and seeing how many other women identified with what she was feeling.
“I was just sat there and was crying and crying because I realized that there women out there that had never seen themselves reflected in a lesbian before,” Nilsen said Friday at VidCon.
Nilsen added that most of the reactions to the video — which has now been viewed more than 11 million times — have been “really positive” and that the support of her fans has “truly been overwhelming in the best way possible.”
“I think it’s refreshing to see real people be humans and be proud of that, because I think human beings are beautiful and we need to embrace all the different facets of our lives,” she said.
