Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups sets 2016 release date

The Terrence Malick drama Knight of Cups will skip this year’s Oscar race and open in theaters on March 4, according to a press release from Broad Green Pictures.

The film, which boasts a star-studded cast including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Frieda Pinto, Imogen Poots, Wes Bently, Isabel Lucas, and Teresa Palmer, follows Rick (Bale), a successful screenwriter who feels haunted by the emptiness of his life. He finds temporary distraction in both men and women in the city of Los Angeles, all of whom — in their own way — help him re-discover his purpose.

The film premiered in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, where critics were split.
