Country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have filed for divorce, according to a statement the couple gave the Associated Press.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” their representatives said. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.” TMZ first reported the news.

Shelton and Lambert met back in 2005 at the CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets concert, and were married in in 2011 in Boerne, Texas. The two had performed together countless times, and together they wrote Lambert’s 2012 CMA song of the year, “Over You.”
