Archie Andrews received a makeover for the Archie #1 reboot, swims with sharks in the upcoming Archie Vs. Sharknado and next year, he’ll rock out with the Ramones.

In honor of the band’s 40th anniversary and Archie Comics’ 75th anniversary, the two will team up for Archie Meets Ramones. The announcement came at Comic-Con on Saturday night. “The Ramones are my punk rock heroes, they’re really very comic booky,” Rosenberg told Comics Alliance excluively, “and Archie has a long history of being connected to music, and being willing to try new things and do cool new stuff, so to me, this makes perfect sense.”

Fellow Archie writer Alex Segura brought in artist Giesel Lagace to portray the Ramones alongside the Riverdale crew, and told Comics Alliance that the whole team loves the punk group. “We’re all huge Ramones fans, and though it took a while to work out the details, once things started moving, it actually went pretty quick,” Segura said. “It’s gonna be a super-fun oversized one-shot, with covers by some truly amazing artists (whom I can’t announce just yet).”

Archie has previously teamed with bands Kiss and Predator. Archie Meets Ramones drops in 2016.
