Caitlyn Jenner shared a new blog post Monday in which she thanked fans for their kind words — she received so many questions and comments that her website crashed — and responded to a few of the messages she received.

One person asked what Jenner’s favorite part so far about becoming Caitlyn has been, and the former Olympian replied, “Just being able to be myself.”

“Recently I went on a trip with some of my new friends and I had such a wonderful time. I packed for the first time — as just Caitlyn, nobody else — which is the first time I’ve ever done that,” she wrote. “I was gone for five days and had such a fantastic experience with all of these girls who have all been through the same thing. We had so many stories to tell. We had so many things that we were all dealing with. It was just truly a liberating experience. I knew then that I could never go back.”

Jenner added that it’s been “both eye-opening and difficult” to see firsthand what members of the transgender community have had to go through, and she hopes to raise awareness of those hardships so it will be a less painful process going forward.

“That said, the future looks bright,” she added. “I knew that my transition would get some response, but I certainly never expected all of this. It’s honestly been incredibly positive.”

Jenner partnered with WhoSay to release a series of articles called “The Real Me,” the first of which appeared online last Monday. You can read her most recent post there, or at her website.
