John Stamos in rehab: Actor enters treatment center for substance abuse
Full House alum <a href="http://Full House alum John Stamos has entered rehab, People reports.
“John has admitted himself to a residential program for the treatment of substance,” Stamos’ rep tells the magazine. “We ask for his privacy at this time.”
Earlier this month, Stamos was arrested in Beverly Hills for driving under the influence after multiple residents had called police to report an erratic driver in the area.
His intoxication was confirmed after he was taken to a local hospital, sent there because police were concerned that he might have been suffering from a medical condition. After receiving a citation, Stamos was released into the care of the hospital for further treatment but left the following day. The Grandfathered actor thanked his fans on Twitter the next day, writing that he was “home and well.”
A friend of the actor told People following his arrest that “even though [Stamos] remains confident and cool, there’s been a change in the past two years.” When his mother, Loretta, died last September, it was “crushing for him,” the source added. “He did his best to stay strong, but he absolutely fell apart.”
Stamos’ court date for the DUI arrest is set for Sept. 11.
