Daniel Craig shoots down Star Wars rumors
'Why would I ever bother doing something like that?'
Daniel Craig would like you to know that, despite what you may have heard, he will not be appearing as a Stormtrooper in Star Wars VII —The Force Awakens. And contrary to Simon Pegg’s remarks in May — “Daniel Craig, he‘s a Stormtrooper,” Pegg told the London Sun, quickly adding, “I shouldn’t have said that” — the James Bond star made clear he finds the idea of making a cameo in the sci-if blockbuster preposterous. “Why would I ever bother doing something like that?” Craig tells EW. “F—ing hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie?”
The rumor gained traction thanks to an overlap in production schedules at the U.K.’s venerable Pinewood Studios where Craig’s latest 007 installment Spectre was shooting concurrent with director J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII in sound stages located just a few meters apart.
But Craig vigorously denies ever putting on the galactic empire’s notorious white helmet. “Talk to Simon Pegg. He obviously knows way more than I do,” says Craig. “He’s just jealous because he’s not in Star Wars. He’s got some issue with J.J. I don’t know what the f— it is. You need to talk to Simon about it.”
