Jack White made headlines—that he later decried as clickbait—back in April when he announced a short acoustic tour that would be followed by “a break from performing live for a long period of time.” The jury’s still out on how long White will stay off the stage, but the former White Stripe will return with new music this year, on the third record from his band The Dead Weather.

Dodge & Burn will come out in September and is the first album from the band—which also features members of The Kills, The Raconteurs, and Queens of the Stone Age—since 2010’s Sea of Cowards. White has put out two solo records in the interim and regularly plays songs from all the projects in his sprawling catalog live, but hasn’t released an album with one of his bands since Cowards.

Still, Dodge & Burn doesn’t come as a surprise. Way back in October 2013, the Dead Weather released a new single, “Open Up (That’s Enough),” and said they’d release an album in 2015. That kicked off a string of four singles made available by the band via a vinyl subscription series from White’s Third Man Records. Dodge & Burn will include those four songs—which you can sample via Soundcloud below—along with eight new tracks. A press release announcing the album said the Dead Weather will not tour in support of it.
