Billy Joel and girlfriend Alexis Roderick said “I do” in a surprise wedding Saturday at their annual Fourth of July party.

A rep for the Piano Man confirmed the nuptials to PEOPLE. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a longtime friend of Joel’s, officiated the ceremony at the singer’s Long Island estate.

The small group of family and friends in attendance were apparently unaware the couple was going to exchange vows. Those guests included Alexa Ray Joel, Joel’s 29-year-old daughter with ex-wife Christie Brinkley, and actor Kevin James.

Joel, 66, and Roderick, 33, a former Morgan Stanley executive, have been together since 2009 and are expecting their first child together.

The music legend, who recently set a new record for the most performances by a single artist at New York’s Madison Square Garden (beating out Elton John), is currently on tour, with his next stop set for July 16 in Boston.
