“What do you do? You’re not an engineer. You’re not a designer. You can’t put a hammer to a nail. I built the circuit board. The graphical interface was stolen. So how come, 10 times in a day, I read Steve Jobs is a genius. What do you do?” asks Seth Rogen’s Steve Wozniak in the new trailer for Steve Jobs. Answers Michael Fassbender’s Jobs: “Musicians play their instruments. I play the orchestra.”

Written by Aaron Sorkin, and based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography, Steve Jobs also stars Kate Winslet (as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh), Jeff Daniels (as former Apple CEO John Sculley), Katherine Waterston (as Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, Chrisann Brennan) and Michael Stuhlbarg (as Apple Macintosh development team member Andy Hertzfeld). The film’s structure is but one of its many hooks: it catches up with Jobs during three product launches for the company, ending with the 1998 debut of the iMac.

Steve Jobsis out in theaters on Oct. 9.
