The queen of Empire, Taraji P. Henson, is teaming up with the Fox show’s co-creator Danny Strong, but this time on the big screen for The Best Of Enemies.
EW has confirmed that Henson will star in the pic, which Robin Bissell (The Hunger Games), a first-timer, will direct.
The new movie is based on the true events accounted in The Best Of Enemies: Race And Redemption In The New South by Osha Gray Davidson. It tells the story of Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis with Henson set to play Atwater, a fierce civil rights activist based in Durham, North Carolina.
Atwater fought for over a decade against C.P. Ellis, the Exalted Cyclops of Durham’s Ku Klux Klan. Their feud came to a sudden end in 1971 when a court-ordered school desegregation put the city in chaos, and the two reluctantly agreed to co-chair a two week-long community meeting in hopes of reaching a compromise. The events that followed changed the city, and the two of them forever.
Best Of Enemies will begin principal photography at the beginning of 2016.
Deadline first reported the news.
