Laverne Cox’s drama pilot at CBS could get a second lease on life.
EW has confirmed that Doubt, a project that stars the Orange is the New Black actress as a transgender Ivy League-educated attorney, remains in contention even though CBS declined to pick it up for a fall launch. The plan is to keep the script intact but recast KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) and Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex).
The drama is about a succesful defense lawyer (previously played by Strickland) who becomes romantically involved with a client (Sears) who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime.
The pilot also stars Dule Hill and Elliott Gould.
Variety was the first to report the news.
