The first moving images from IFC’s faux-documentary series, titled Documentary Now!, were released today, and they find Fred Armisen and Bill Hader all over the place: In Iceland. In Mexico. In California. In jail. In women’s clothes.

Debuting Aug. 20 and hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, the six-episode half-hour comedy pays tribute to famous documentaries of the past with weekly explorations of not-quite-real people and subjects. (Think along the lines of SNL‘s “Ian Rubbish and the Bizzaros: History of Punk” short film, which featured Armisen and Hader, and was written by Seth Meyers, all three of whom serve as the creators/executive producers of Documentary Now!). Check out the trailer below to celebrate “50 years of excellence & integrity in documentary filmmaking.”
