Charles Grodin will play a victim of Bernie Madoff’s hedge fund scheme in the ABC event series Madoff.

Grodin has been cast as Carl Shapiro, one of many investors who fell into Madoff’s trap and ended up losing hundreds of millions of dollars. He joins Richard Dreyfuss in the title role and Blythe Danner, who will play Ruth Madoff. A comedy film veteran, Grodin recently starred in FX’s Louie as Dr. Bigelow.

The movie is currently in production and will follow the rise and fall of Madoff and how it affected his family. The movie is inspired by the book The Madoff Chronicles  by ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross.

It’s unclear how many episodes ABC will make for the special. No airdate has been set, though the series is expected to premiere later this year.
