Neil Gaiman’s blockbuster novel American Gods is headed to the small screen. Starz has given a greenlight to the adaptation of Gaiman’s fantasy story.

“I am thrilled, scared, delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation,” the author said in a statement. “Now we finally move to the exciting business that fans have been doing for he last dozen years: casting our Shadow, our Wednesday, our Laura…”

Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Heroes) and Michael Green (Kings, Heroes) — a team Gaiman says was “assembled like master criminals in a caper movie” — will write and showrun the series. Gaiman will also executive produce the show.

Production will begin as soon as American Gods’ lead role of Shadow Moon is cast, a journey fans can follow online using #castingShadow.
