Sufjan Stevens’ latest album, Carrie & Lowell, has the power to make you cry in seconds—and his just-released “Harsh Noise” has the power to scare the shit out of you.

Stevens performed the track—which sounds exactly like what the title suggests—at cellist Gaspar Claus’ One Night Stand event in 2012, which also featured music by members of the National and the Men, among others. A text intro to Stevens’ “Harsh Noise” describes a one-night stand as, “70 intense minutes have passed on a strange territory, the utopia of an instant, an act of love with no other future than the pleasure of your ears.”

Music from that night is now available here—but only until June 30. Get a taste of it with Stevens’ contribution below.
