Jimi Hendrix’s 1969 Woodstock performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” is the gold standard for rock versions of the national anthem, but the rendition Carlos Santana and Cindy Blackman Santana played before Sunday’s NBA Finals game might at least be within the same area code. The pair absolutely crushed their take, with Cindy — an accomplished jazz and rock drummer best known for her work with Lenny Kravitz — proving herself as the night’s breakout star.

Fun fact: Carlos Santana is a Bay Area native while Cindy Blackman Santana is from Ohio.
