Rose Byrne may play an intimidating Bulgarian arms dealer with sky-high hair in Spy, but her co-star Melissa McCarthy revealed that Byrne was the person who broke and started giggling more than anyone on set. So naturally, McCarthy set out to make her laugh in every scene.

“She’s so sweet, and she’s so beautiful that it’s really fun to try to verbally destroy her,” McCarthy said.

In an interview with People and EW editorial director Jess Cagle, McCarthy talked about reuniting with her Bridesmaids co-star and how she’s been trying to make Byrne break for years.

“When we did Bridesmaids, I really, really always went after Rose because she’s a big laugher, and she’s also a terrible laugher because she will just completely break down in a scene,” McCarthy said. “Fully, out loud, shoulders shaking. We’re like, Rose, you know we’re on camera?”

Spy will be released in theaters June 5.
