Scary movies have long been Marlon Wayans’ domain of cinematic spoofs, but he’s stepping into romantic territory with a new send-up of one of the year’s biggest boxoffice hits, Fifty Shades of Grey.
Open Road Films announced today that it has acquired Fifty Shades of Black, which Wayans will star in and write with Rick Alvarez. Alvarez has previously collaborated on several projects with Wayans as a producer including A Haunted House and White Chicks. Haunted House director Michael Tiddes is also signed on for Fifty Shades of Black.
IM Global, which also produced A Haunted House, will produce the new spoof film. Black, which may be the first spoof film based on a film based on a book based on fan fiction of another book, currently does not have a release date or other announced cast members.
