Godzilla given special residency in Japan
- Movie
Godzilla can now officially call Japan “home,” as the kaiju has been granted special residency in the country.
According to a specially made residency certificate posted online and translated by BBC, AnimeNewsNetwork, and others, Godzilla has beem made a resident of Shinjuku. Presumably, the residency will make the commute easy for the newly minted Japanese ambassador, who already has a giant monument to himself in the country.
The Shinjuku ward will reportedly provide the first 3,000 fans who want proof of Godzilla’s residency with a copy of the certificate.
Godzilla was made an ambassador in April, and among his many communal responsibilities, continues to have an active film career. A sequel to last year’s Godzilla is set for a 2018 release, while Toho, the Japanese studio behind the original Godzilla films, is planning a film for 2016.
