Blur's Ong Ong video is pretty weird
Remember that exceptionally well-coordinated music video Blur released for “Lonesome Street”? This is the opposite of that. For the group’s new video for “Ong Ong,” the members of Blur dressed up as various video game characters inspired by their album, The Magic Whip, and danced around like no one was watching. (Frontman Damon Albarn dresses up as Mr. Cream from the album cover.)
But thanks to the weirdnes, the video is a blast. That fits, since “Ong Ong” is one of the best tracks off the group’s comeback album, which dropped in April and immediately hit number one on the UK album charts. Blur is currently prepping for their British Summertime Show in London’s Hyde Park on June 20 by playing a short string of intimate venues (listed below).
The group played in the U.S. for the first time since 2013 earlier this spring, when they hosted a free show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. They have not announced plans for a more extensive North American tour.
