  • Jason Isaacs will be playing Gore Verbinski’s villain in his upcoming supernatural horror flick, A Cure for Wellness, which centers around an employee who was sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa.” Isaacs is set to play the facility’s villainous director.   • Chin Han (The Dark Knight) is the latest cast member to join the action sequel Independence Day 2, currently shooting in New Mexico. Han will be playing the leader of the Chinese Space Squadron.   • Peter Stormare, Kerry Bishe, Lesley Manville and Ari Millen have all signed on to the sci-fi thriller Rupture, starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Chiklis. The story centers around a single mother (Rapace) who is abducted by a chilling and mysterious organization who inform her that her humanity is facing a terrifying threat.   • Bella Thorne will be starring in Shovel Buddies, a film that revolves around four teenagers who must conquer a “shovel list” of activities that was left behind by their newly deceased friend. A day-and-date theatrical and VOD release is planned. The film has just begun shooting in California. [Deadline]

  • The Belko Experiment, written by James Gunn and directed by Greg McLean, has added David Del Rio to its cast. Del Rio will play “a snarky young man with a wicked sense of humor and a key component in the panic of the employees at a San Paulo office building” who are one day forced to begin killing each other or be killed.[Deadline]

  • Stand-up comedian Alice Wetterlund (The Interview) has joined Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates, the comedy currently starring Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza. The pic is about two childish party-going brothers who place an online ad to find a couple of dates for an upcoming wedding, only to end up finding dates who can out-party them. The film will begin production this summer in Hawaii. [Deadline]

  • My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 has added Alex Wolff to the sequel’s cast, which Nia Vardalos will once again lead from a script she wrote. The film brings back the Portokalos family for an even bigger Greek wedding with a secret at its center. [The Hollywood Reporter]

  • Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight) will be taking on the role of Coach Jarhead in Life At These Speeds, a drama about the ability of our happiest memories to keep us going at the worst of times. Following a teen’s loss of his best friends in a tragic accident, he finds running to be an outlet that lets him remember them perfectly. But running also brings him some notoriety, and he is caught between his past memories and making new ones. [Deadline]
