Somewhere along the way, he was just a kid looking to become a rockstar. Also, he was resourceful. When Dave Grohl was 14, he reached out to Minor Threat frontman and Dischord Records founder Ian MacKaye looking for phone numbers of people he could get in touch with for help. Teenage Grohl even provided a window in which it was most appropriate for MacKaye to get in touch with him (between the hours of 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. — school and lights out).

Foo Fighters tweeted out a picture of the letter on Thursday, with Grohl writing, “Look at what my hero Ian Mackaye (Minor Threat/Fugazi) just found: a letter I wrote to him when I was 14! Haha!”
