Tracy Morgan reaches settlement in Walmart case
UPDATE: Walmart and Tracy Morgan’s attorney, Benedict Morelli, released a joint statement Wednesday confirming the settlement. “Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families,” Morgan said in the statement. “I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably.” The terms and conditions of this settlement are confidential at this time.
EARLIER: Tracy Morgan has settled his lawsuit against Walmart relating to the June car crash that left him seriously injured, according to the Associated Press.
A Walmart truck driver crashed into a limo holding Morgan and four others on June 7, causing an accident that resulted in the death of comedian Jimmy McNair. Several others were injured, including Morgan: He suffered from head trauma and a broken leg, injuries he’s still recovering from. His attorney, Benedict Morelli, told People in February that the 30 Rock star was “being helped by regular physical, speech, and cognitive therapy” in rehab. “He’s working hard to get well,” Morelli said.
Morelli did not immediately respond to EW’s request for a statement regarding the settlement.
