Jesse Plemons, Domhnall Gleeson join Tom Cruise for 'Mena'
Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons and Ex Machina‘s Domhnall Gleeson have officially joined Mena, a Barry Seal biopic starring Tom Cruise and directed by Edge of Tomorrow‘s Doug Liman.
Mena chronicles the exploits of real-life drug smuggler Seal, who was recruited by the CIA to lead one of the country’s biggest covert operations.
“I love stories of improbable heroes working against the system, and Barry Seal took the government, and our country, for an unbelivable ride,” Liman said in a statement. “Interpreting his story has the makings for an entertaining film that is equal parts satire, suspense, and comedy—and always surprising.”
Sarah Wright, Caleb Landry Jones, Jayma Mays, Benito Martinez, E. Roger Mitchell, Lola Kirke, and Alejandro Edda are also set to star in the film, which has kicked off production in Georgia.
Mena is set for release from Universal on Jan. 6, 2017. See a video of Gleeson from EW’s Q&Play web series below.
