Like a J.M. Barrie novel ghostwritten by SNL‘s Stefon, the newest Pan trailer has everything: Canada jokes, whitewashing, crocodiles that breach like whales, and Hugh Jackman’s face on a boat.

If possible, the upcoming Peter Pan origin story looks even more whimsical here than it did in the film’s first trailer. Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement), the adventure follows Peter (Levi Miller) through his extraordinary beginnings in Neverland, where he crosses swords not with Hook (here an Indiana Jones-esque Garrett Hedlund) but with Jackman’s Blackbeard. Along the way, Peter meets up with Tiger Lily (the controversially cast Rooney Mara), and a few mermaids played by Cara Delevingne.

The journey to Neverland begins Oct. 9.
