Hopefully they’re giving each new Hedwig a fresh pair of fishnets.

Taye Diggs is the latest actor to step into the high heels of transgender rocker Hedwig in the smash Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He’ll make his Broadway return for the first time since appearing in Wicked in 2004, taking over in the role of Hedwig when Glee star Darren Criss exits the production on July 19. Diggs begins his 12-week run on July 22.

For those keeping count, Diggs is the sixth to take up Hedwig’s mantle, following Neil Patrick Harris (the revival’s original star and Tony winner), Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, John Cameron Mitchell (the show’s co-writer and original Hedwig), and Criss.

Diggs’ Broadway credits include Carousel, Chicago, Wicked, and the original production of Rent. (He reprised his role as Benny in the 2005 film adaptation).
