Dude Bro Party Massacre III trailer: Patton Oswalt explains why the movie isn't what it seems
Patton Oswalt is a much-loved stand-up comedian, pop culture cogitator, and actor, whose many credits include Young Adult, Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant!, and, most recently, HBO’s political satire Veep. So why in the blue blazes did he agree to appear in something called Dude Bro Party Massacre III?
The answer lies with the fact that DBPMIII is not some ghastly cash-grab of a horror threequel but rather the first full-length movie from Internet comedy troupe, 5 Second Films. “I was a fan and started retweeting their stuff,” says Oswalt. “They contacted me and I came in to do some [sketches] with them and those were really fun—they’re an amazing group of filmmakers, obviously. So that’s how it happened.”
What can the comedian say about his role in Dude Bro…? “I’m a police chief that’s dealing with the massacre that is going on in his town,” Oswalt explains. “And he’s got really, really terrible people working under him that are not helping and he’s got to deal with that. I haven’t seen the film—but, you know, if they can pack that many laughs into five seconds, imagine what they can do over the course of an hour.”
Dude Bro Party Massacre III—which also boasts appearances from party-happy rocker Andrew W.K. and actor Greg “The Room” Sestero—will receive it’s world premiere at the LA Film Festival on June 13, prior to the movie’s release this summer.
