The Magicians adaptation gets first trailer from Syfy
Syfy has unveiled the first look at its adaptation of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, set to debut in 2016.
The trailer sets up the story of Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph), who stumbles upon the magical Brakebills Academy. But Quentin soon learns that becoming a magician isn’t as easy as it might sound. With a little help from friends like Eliot (Hale Appleman) and Margo (Summer Bishil)—whose character is named Janet in the Lev Grossman series from which The Magicians is adapted—he just might make it through.
If anyone was worried that show wouldn’t live up to the description many apply to the books—”Harry Potter for adults“—fear not: The trailer includes a quick shot of mid-air, magically propelled sex. (This makes The Magicians yet another Syfy series hoping to entice viewers with levitating sex, as The Expanse previously did.)
The Magicians, which Syfy recently ordered to series, is set to debut in 2016.
Based on Lev Grossman’s book trilogy, this fantasy Syfy series follows the adventures of students at Brakebills University, a graduate school specializing in magic.
