Kate Beckinsale can’t get enough of being Selene. EW has confirmed that the actress has signed on to reprise her Underworld character in what would be the fifth installment of the vampire franchise. As part of an option agreement, Theo James is also set to reprise his role as David from Underworld: Awakening. (The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.)

Adding to news of Beckinsale’s casting is the announcement that the film will be directed by Anna Foerster, marking the first time a woman has helmed a female-led horror franchise. Foerster, who has directed episodes of Starz’s popular series Outlander, has also done second-unit work and was director of photography on action films such as The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down. The news comes on the heels of recent reports of the ACLU investigating the claim of discrimination against women directors in Hollywood.

A script has been written by Cory Goodman, though plot details are being kept buried for the time being. It’s reported that the film will focus on “a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races.”

The film will begin shooting in Prague in October.
