Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek debuted another new track yesterday from his forthcoming album Universal Themes, and it’s another one of the brooding, dirge-like epics that distinguished 2014’s Benji. “Garden of Lavender” is the third song he’s released from the album, which is due out June 2. While “Ali/Spinks 2” reincorporated the electric sound Kozelek developed in the 90s as a part of Red House Painters, the 10-minute “Garden of Lavender” hews closer to the acoustic storytelling from Universal Themes‘ first single “The Possum.”
