B.B. King died after series of mini strokes, coroner confirms
B.B. King’s death has been attributed to a series of small strokes due to his long battle with type 2 diabetes, the official medical term being multi-infarct dementia.
EW confirmed the cause of death of the 89-year-old blues singer with the Clark County Coroner in Las Vegas, John Fudenberg.
Dementia occurs along with certain diseases, including diabetes, and is a permanent loss of brain function. The diagnosis is usually known to affect the memory, thinking, language, and judgment in individuals over the age of 55.
According to Billboard, the singer was given a type 2 diabetes diagnosis several years ago.
