Taran Killam will need to rely on his animal instincts for his latest role. The SNL veteran has been tapped to play an adventure-seeking house cat on the PBS children’s series Nature Cat.

Also lending their voices are SNL co-stars Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan, and Kenan Thompson, along with Kate Micucci of Garfunkel and Oates.

The show follows Fred, a domesticated feline looking for fun and adventure in the good old outdoors—his backyard. While possessing no nature skills whatsoever, he will need the help of his animal friends to explore, investigate and discover all that the outside has to offer. The show will incorporate humor and education in a bid to inspire kids to get outside and embark on their own exploits.

“With its hilarious voice talent, whimsical animation style and playful storylines, Nature Cat will engage and entertain families, while encouraging an interest in exploring nature,” said Lesli Rotenberg. The general manager of children’s media at PBS continued, “PBS Kids uses the power to media to inspire children to go on learning adventures of their own and this new series will help them discover the wonders that are as close as their own backyard or local park.”

The series was created by Sesame Street’s David and Adam Rudman, and will premiere Nov. 25 on PBS.
