Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of Spike Lee’s new musical Chiraq, EW has confirmed. According to reports, Common, John Cusack, Jeremy Piven and Samuel L. Jackson are also slated to appear. Chiraq, a musical comedy, is a reimagining of Aristophanes’ play Lysistrata, where the women of ancient Greece withhold sex to force the men to draw a treaty ending the Peloponnesian War. Lee’s version subs in Chicago for Greece, and turns the conflict to gang violence.

But while the cast is big, one major name won’t appear. Despite rumors stating otherwise, Chicago native Kanye West will not appear in the film. The rapper’s rep tells EW in a statement: “Contrary to published reports, Kanye West will not be starring in Chiraq. However, there are discussions for West’s possible involvement in the film’s soundtrack, schedule permitting.”
