Even if you don’t recognize Jesse Harris’ name, you’re probably familiar with his work. The singer-songwriter wrote Norah Jones’ 2003 Grammy-winner “Don’t Know Why” and has also collaborated with artists including Bright Eyes, Cat Power, Feist, M. Ward, Willie Nelson, and Emmylou Harris. How’s that for a resume?

Earlier this year Harris released his 13th solo album, No Wrong No Right. Now he’s dropped a lo-fi, black-and-white video for the somber and gorgeous “Catch the Ash”—and EW has the exclusive premiere. Harris recorded the track with guitar-drum duo Star Rover, and says he wanted to emulate the “hushed acoustic folk songs” from Neil Young’s classic 1970 album After the Gold Rush.
