Tom Hardy may have exited a comic-book project, but the Mad Max: Fury Road actor is still interested in returning to the genre.

When questioned by Collider about taking part in another Warner Bros. comic book film after departing Suicide Squad, Hardy mentioned he’d love to actually play a specific Marvel character.

“I want The Punisher,” Hardy said, though he lamented he may not be tall enough to play Frank Castle, who has been portrayed by both Ray Stevenson and Thomas Jane on the big screen since the early 2000s onslaught of superhero movies began. Dolph Lundgren even played the part in a 1989 film adaptation.

The last time Castle was seen on screen was when Stevenson played him in 2008’s Punisher: War Zone, which was preceded by Jane in the role in a 2004 film.

So Marvel, if you’re looking for another chance of making The Punisher work—maybe as a new hero i nthe Marvel/Netflix relationship?—Hardy is ready and willing to take on the role.

Hardy also mentioned wanting to dive into the Splinter Cell film adaptation he is currently attached to, which would see him take on the role of Sam Fisher from the Tom Clancy Splinter Cell video games.
